5 of 5 starsWoooow!!! AMAZING!!!Seriously, First Comes Love is filled with all kinds of first, first meets first loves, fights, and forgives. It was truly awe-inspiring!!
I absolutely everything about this book and am so deliriously happy that it has finally been released.
First Comes Love is a beautiful and touching story about two young-adults who from the outside you would think would very unlikely make a couple, since they are pretty much total opposites in almost every way. But soon they discover that opposites attract. When we meet Grey, he is reserved and a loner, and is trying to go on with his life after a terrible tragedy as best he can. Dylan on the other hand, is his total opposite. She is a loving, full of life, and adventurous person who lives her life at its fullest. She doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life and doesn’t really care what people might think of her.
When Grey first meets Dylan he thinks she is seriously crazy or has probably been in the sun too long. (LOL!!! I had a crack out of this, it was totally hilarious!! LOL!) Dylan on the other hand, thinks she has made it her goal to make him her new best-friend, (Because that is just the kind of girl she is…Weird, since this guy could be some kind of psycho for all she know!! But thank g_d this is sooo not the case.) Soon enough Dylan becomes much more than just a friend to Grey, he realizes he truly has fallen in love with and she with him. But sometimes it’s easy to just ‘fall’ in love but ‘staying’ there is what they’ll both have to work for.
I really enjoyed this book and feel it taught me a lot. First Comes Love is really much more than a novel, it teaches you to love and appreciate everything about life and to live every single moment of it. It was easy for me to relate to both characters in the book, but I found that I mostly I identified with Grey and certain situations he was going through. This is one quote that stu k out to me that I found spoke to me.
Dylan speaking to
Grey:
“You can’t live for your parents. You’re not responsible for making them happy. They need to do that on their own. You need to work on you.”
Katie Kacvinsky is such an amazing writer and I thank her for writing such an amazing story!!!Really, it was awe-inspiring!!
These are some of my favorite quotes from First Comes Love:
“My photography class has taught me two crucial lessons about life. First, become an avid people watcher. It’s amazing the truth people expose when they think nobody’s looking. Two, look for beauty where it isn’t obvious. Try to see life through a creative lens…”
“First I thought she was crazy. Now I’m crazy about her.”
“…it’s no longer enough to spend every waking moment with him. I need to spend every sleeping moment too.”
“Isn’t that what love is? It’s more than caring and laughing and inspiring. It’s about taking hurt and anger off people’s shoulders and helping to carry the weight. It’s more important to love people on their worst days than their best.”
“It’s easy to hear words. It’s another thing to accept them.”
“Sometimes the simplest words cut the deepeset if they’re aimed right.”
